Participant Rights
Your Rights
Participant Rights & Responsibilities
Every person we support has the right to safe, respectful, person-centred care. These rights are not optional — they are the foundation of everything we do.
Purpose
The purpose of our Participant Rights and Responsibilities Policy is to uphold and promote the legal and human rights of each participant in our NDIS service. This policy is designed to respect individual autonomy, facilitate informed decision-making, and honour personal beliefs and cultural diversity.
This policy adheres to three key NDIS Practice Standards: Person-centred supports, Individual values and beliefs, and Independence and informed choice.
Your Rights
Safe and Respectful Support
You have the right to receive safe, high-quality care free from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence.
Informed Choice and Control
You have the right to make decisions about your own life, including which supports you receive, who provides them, and how they are delivered.
Privacy and Confidentiality
Your personal information is handled with strict confidentiality. You can access your records at any time.
Dignity and Respect
You are entitled to be treated with dignity and respect at all times, with your cultural background, beliefs, and identity honoured.
Feedback and Complaints
You have the right to raise concerns or complaints without fear of negative consequences or loss of service.
Access to Advocates
You may involve an independent advocate at any stage of your support, at no cost to you.
Your Responsibilities
A positive support relationship works both ways. We ask that participants:
- Treat support workers and staff with respect and courtesy
- Provide accurate information about your needs and circumstances
- Inform us of any changes to your situation that may affect your supports
- Communicate openly if you have concerns about your support
- Follow agreed safety procedures during support delivery
- Provide reasonable notice when cancelling scheduled supports
