Understanding Your NDIS Plan & Funding

The NDIS gives you funding to access the supports you need to live your life and pursue your goals. Here's a plain-language guide to how it works — and how St Anastasia's Care fits in.

What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding to eligible Australians with permanent and significant disability. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, it gives each participant an individual plan with funding tailored to their needs and goals — so you have choice and control over the supports you receive and who delivers them.

The 3 types of NDIS budgets

Your NDIS plan funding is generally organised into three budgets:

Core Supports

The most flexible funding, covering everyday supports like personal care, domestic assistance, community access, and transport. Most of the supports St Anastasia's Care provides fall under Core.

Capacity Building

Funding to build your independence and skills over time, such as developing life skills or improving daily living.

Capital Support

Funding for higher-cost items like assistive technology or home modifications. This budget is more restricted and can only be used for its specific purpose.

How your plan is managed

How your plan is managed affects which providers you can use and how invoices are paid.

NDIA-managed (Agency-managed)

The NDIA pays your providers directly. You'll need to use NDIS-registered providers like St Anastasia's Care.

Plan-managed

A plan manager handles your invoices and payments, giving you flexibility to use both registered and non-registered providers.

Self-managed

You manage your own funding and pay providers directly, with the most choice and control.

Good news:

As a registered NDIS provider, St Anastasia's Care can support participants across all three management types.
